Yamada Ike Park in Hirakata, Osaka
Posted by Kyle Yates in Kansai Leisure
The park is designed around a very large pond. “Ike” means pond in Japanese. Around the park there are many separate gardens filled with different types of flowers and trees. One of the most famous gardens is the “Iris Garden”, which blooms between May 25th and June 25th yearly. It boasts a huge assortment of iris built on platform walkways so visitors can wander throughout the iris and take photos.
Birds of various shapes and sizes inhabit the park making it a wonderful place to bird watch.
If you are looking to spend the day somewhere and don’t have time to go outside Osaka Prefecture pick up a bento and the nearest store and visit this park. The park is large enough to spend the day. Sit on the grass or on the park benches and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
