A city hall official in Kyoto stated that in June or July of this year a major overhaul of the foreigner registry system will take place. Some of the changes that will most likely occur: The current gaijin card will be changed to a new version. Foreigners who have been living in Japan for a long period of time will begin receiving permanent residency status. Foreign Residents Potluck Party

The Minoh Association for Global Awareness will hold a potluck party for foreign residents of Minoh City on December 12, from 12:30pm to 3:30pm at Minoh City Hall’s Toyokawa Branch. Gion Festival Float Tour

On July 13th from 2:30 to 6:30 pm up to 20 non-Japanese residents are invited to see how to build two Gion Festival floats – Kikusui Boko and Kita Kannon Yama – decorated with beautiful tapestries. Counseling for Foreigners

On December 7th, Kyoto International House in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto will hold a free counseling service on legal matters, visas, social insurance, labor, health and taxes.
