Gion Festival Float Tour

On July 13th from 2:30 to 6:30 pm up to 20 non-Japanese residents are invited to see how to build two Gion Festival floats – Kikusui Boko and Kita Kannon Yama – decorated with beautiful tapestries.

Admission is free.

Participants will meet at the Karasuma-Oike subway station in Kyoto City.

Japan Job Fair for Foreign Students

Osaka International House will host a job fair on June 28 from 1 to 6 pm. Major and midsize retail businesses and manufacturers will have booths for students to learn about each company.

There will be a seminar on how to find a job in Japan as well as legal advice on how to get a working visa. The seminar will be held from 10:30 to 12:30 pm on the same day.

Students graduating from universities between autumn 2009 and March 2010 are eligible to attend.

International Exchange Festival

An International Exchange Festidal will be held in Moriguchi, Osaka on March 8, from 11am to 3pm at Canadian Square.

There will be stage performances, Salsa and flamenco dancing, a variety of world music, ethnic food and various workshops.

Counseling for Foreigners

On December 7th, Kyoto International House in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto will hold a free counseling service on legal matters, visas, social insurance, labor, health and taxes. Interpretation assistance in English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese and Thai will be available.

Consultations will be from 1pm to 5pm.

Indonesian Fair in Kobe

There will be an Indonesian Fair from 10am to 2pm on August 31st, 2008 on the 4th floor of the Kobe Life Entertainment Center in Kobe.

The Kobe Indonesian Society will give a class on cooking Indonesian dishes. There will also be a seminar on how to play the Indonesian percussion instrument made of bamboo called the Angklung.

Indonesian fabrics will also be on display.

Free Pass to Museums for Foreigners

The Osaka Foundation of International Exchange is providing free admission passes to about 40 museums throughout Osaka Prefecture to foreign students enrolled in schools in the prefecture.

Students can apply by contacting offices for foreign students at their respective schools. Mention the Osaka Foundation of International Exchange.
