Rain, Rain and More Rain
Posted by Kyle Yates in Japan Related, Kansai Area News
While the end of rainy season may be less than a week away, it is however not ending subtly for tonight a typhoon arrives in the Kansai region of Japan.
Typhoon Man-Yi, or typhoon #4 as it is called here, at one point reached category 5 status. After passing through Okinawa the storm has slowed to a category 2 typhoon. As of 1pm today, July 14th, 2007, the typhoon has sustained winds of 105 mph/169 kph and gusts up to 125 mph/201 kph so it is still dangerous and will most likely shut down airports in its path.
Man-Yi should arrive later tonight or early in the morning tomorrow and bring more rain that what has been falling the past three days.
But don’t be discouraged if you are planning to visit the Kansai area of Japan. You may arrive one day later than planned, but the gardens and beautiful foliage of Japan will be well watered and be healthy as ever. Once the typhoon has passed through and headed north Japan will once again be open to visitors.
